BRIEF HISTORY OF U.B.T.S:
The United Baptist Theological Seminary was founded in the fall of 1948, as an extension of Coleman College. The first two years of classes were held at Mt. Nebo Baptist Church. On November 17, 1950, it was chartered as United Theological Seminary. The first commencement was held in May 1952. On February 12, 1991, the corporate name was changed to United Baptist Theological Seminary and Bible College.
OVER 50 YEARS OF SERVICE:
The United Baptist Theological Seminary and Bible College (U.B.T.S.) has touched many lives in the last fifty years. U.B.T.S. strives to create an atmosphere that provides educational and spiritual values that stimulate students to interact with the total community in
spreading the Word of God. U.B.T.S. celebrated its 50th year of continuous operation in the year 2000.
MISSION STATEMANT:
The purpose of this institution is to establish and maintain a Bible College to educate men and women of all denominations to become leaders in the local Church, community and nation through a program of biblical and theological studies, academic education in the arts and sciences, and professional studies in Christian education, pastoral ministry, evangelism, and other vocational areas as deemed desirable. The philosophy of Christian higher education at United Baptist Theological Seminary and Bible College is the source of authority for all faith and practice.
U.B.T.S:
Since 1949, U.B.T.S. has been blazing trails for those persons who were hungry for the Word Of God. Distinguished Ministers, dedicated Christian educators and Church leaders have taught course material here and those who are presently on the staff are carrying on that same tradition of excellence in the classroom.
